Make your backyard garden an alive and an enthusiastic place by attracting a number of birds there. Enjoy the site of beautiful birds with their varied and unique activities. Your backyard should consist of a number of plants that will bear fruits, berries and nectar for the birds throughout the year. The shrubs, big trees and vines will offer them protection against sun, wind, cold and rain. The backyard bird garden should also have a source of water. Water source draws the attraction of birds very fast. Birds generally love to play in water and spend time bathing in water during the summers. Also there should be some stones, pebbles or small pieces of rocks near the water source for them to enjoy.

There are also some plants that attract the birds. Plants like coneflowers, asters, black eyed Susan after flowering provide seeds for birds like chickadees, sparrows, cardinals, finches and titmice. Humming birds like to suck the nectar from the beard tongue and the lilies.

The backyard bird garden should also be provided with a number of feeders for the birds. Different types of feeders such as platform feeders, tube feeders, and suet feeders are available in the market for different species of birds. Purchase some of them and place them into your backyard garden. Fill the feeders with appropriate food. You can also prepare a feeder at home to reduce the cost. Tale a log of wood and pierce holes into it some distance apart from one another. Fill these holes with the grains and seeds for attracting the birds.

You can add a small wildlife in your backyard bird garden for attracting a number of birds. You can have a fish aquarium full of variety of colorful fish, a small rabbit house, a dog house and many more. But never make the mistake of letting the cats visit your bird gardens. Cats are the greatest threat to the birds. It kills about thousands of birds every year. If there is a cat in your garden, the birds will stop visiting your garden.

Putting Birdhouse in the backyard also helps to attract birds. If possible one can make proper security measures fro birds so that they can wonder in garden at any place. Backyard should not be nearer to road or any noisy place which may keep birds away from backyard.

Making available all raw materials for building nest, also make birds to build their nest their itself. Water arrangement is most important for bird, if they didn’t find water they used to fly away from that place. Be sure to keep fresh water in the pond.
