Always used to replace water with fresh one, because water gets evaporated very fast and also birds splash it on ground. If there are branches birds used to play on branches after taking bath. In season like winter, it happens that water in Birdbath gets frozen. It is necessary to keep watch on water, if it gets frozen it should be replaced instantly otherwise bird will find other way for water. Water is the major aspect in birds’ life if it didn’t get on time, they will switch to search other resources of water.

How to become a Bird Watcher

Bird watching is a leisure time activity enjoyed by the people of all the ages, in any location and at any time of the year.

Binoculars: Birds can be watched very closely and briefly by using binoculars. Adjust the binoculars according to your comfort, so they fit properly according to your eye spacing. Locate a bird with your naked eyes and then focuss on it using the binoculars. After locating the bird, use the clock system to focus them accurately. Like on the tree, the top of the tree will be 12 o’clock, bottom 6 o’clock, middle left of the center 9 o’clock and the middle right of the center will be 3 o’clock. So you can now say perfectly that the bird is resting on the branch of the tree about 1 o’clock away from the center of the tree.

Maintain a Diary- note down all the details that you observe regularly in your dairy. This will help you for future identification. While noting down, also note the species of the bird, date, habitat, location, were they male or female and their specific behavior that includes catching the insets, feeding young ones, preening, etc. you should write down as much details as you can.

After noting sown the different details, go through them frequently in your leisure time. You will come to know that some behaviors are repeated during specific times. You may arrive upto a certain conclusion about how do the birds counteract then different situations.

While watching the birds take care that you are not disturbing them in any ways. Watch them in their natural surrounding, if possible. Avoid making a loud noise or a movement that may distract them or make them fly away. Wear light colored comfortable clothes.

Select a proper location for bird watching. The place where birds visit frequently. Place yourself in a comfortable position. You have to be very keen while watching. Note down even the smallest change that you observe in them. You can also observe how do the birds feed their young ones, protect themselves from their enemies, catch their prey, etc. they indeed use a lot if strategies and techniques that we can understand only after repeated observations.
